- OxygenOS 12 offers a more complete experience that streamlines users’ daily work and improves digital well-being
- Optimisation of OxygenOS 12 in three aspects: work, rest and play, which help us feel closer to the world and our loved ones
With the release of the first version of the OxygenOS 12 Open Beta for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, you can see first-hand how the overall software experience has reached a new level. With the recent integration of the ColorOS codebase, OxygenOS 12 keeps the DNA fast and fluid while providing a completely improved experience in a more stable and energy-saving system with robust backend support . Along with a refreshing user interface and a great set of new features, OxygenOS 12 offers a more complete experience that streamlines users’ daily work and improves digital well-being.
OxygenOS 12 has been optimised primarily in three aspects: work, rest and play, creating a pressure-free space for users to relax.
OnePlus has worked hard to introduce a new revamped user interface in OxygenOS 12 that improves usability and infuses power through a rugged design.
Through the ingenious use of light and space, OxygenOS 12 creates a safe and relaxed environment for users. Visually, changing light indicates clearer distances, while hierarchy and interleaved relationships improve readability and ease of use. In addition, soft light and shadows minimise unnecessary distractions in the user interface, thus providing a more immersive and comfortable experience. Zen mode and Private Safe mode (just introduced) are a perfect example, a new design is created around light and shadow, providing a sense of safety and mental comfort through visual changes.
OnePlus has further simplified the visuals in OxygenOS 12 based on geometric deconstruction. Through simpler fonts, users can easily get key messages, making OxygenOS 12 more inclusive and easy to identify for users from different cultures and regions.
Also, based on simplicity, details have been enhanced to provide a more premium feel by adding shadows, subtle gradients, and customizing each visual element according to user scenarios, creating a high-end interface in OxygenOS 12.
Better organization in the day-to-day work
The popular menu is completely updated in OxygenOS 12 with a wider range of customisation so that you can create the experience that best suits your needs. The new menu can be customised with feature cards of different sizes and background images, allowing you to group functions and customise the layout as desired. Within the menu, the step counter card is updated to a health card, which can also be connected to the OnePlus Watch, providing more direct access to health information such as calories or heart rate.
To further simplify operations and increase efficiency, OnePlus has integrated OnePlus Scout into the menu for global users. This feature has already been a favourite of the community in India, as it provides a comprehensive service for all searches that enables people to find any content on their device, including documents, contacts, music tracks, and web entries. OnePlus Scout makes the overall experience easier and smoother than ever
To make work easier and more efficient, the Note application, as one of the most important work tools, is completely updated with new editing functionalities. With OxygenOS 12, content can now be edited with new formatting tools.
Improved Zen Mode for optimal rest
With OxygenOS 12, the experience has been extended to global users with an updated version of Work Life Balance 2.0 (WLB 2.0), a first for Android devices. It offers a series of customisation options to satisfy any need for a better balance between work and leisure. In WLB mode settings, notifications and messages from different apps can be sorted into two modes and sorted by priority. Plus, work and life modes intelligently change based on location, Wi-Fi networks, or a specific time you set, separating your life and work easily and clearly.
In addition, with the dark mode it can now be adjusted with three levels, giving more options for users to choose the mode that best suits their reading preferences.
Development of the digital space for fun
OxygenOS 12 brings great features along with updated Toolbox 2.0 for all global OnePlus users, taking the OnePlus gaming experience to the next level. It supports Voice Modulator in five of the most popular games (PUBG / CODM / LOLM / FreeFire / Fortnite), allowing you to change the voice during in-game chats, protecting your privacy and adding more fun.
Another popular feature that OnePlus brings to users is Canvas AOD. The function is optimized based on the original functionality, adding a variety of new brushes and colors for better customisation. Photo selection and finishing effect settings have become more flexible as it adapts to different image sizes and supports image scaling. Meanwhile, users can erase lines that do not fit properly to provide a much more realistic but personalised overall result.
Security and trust
Protecting the privacy of users has always been OnePlus’ top priority. During each iteration of OxygenOS, the goal has always been to build a secure and reliable system that protects users’ personal information from hacking and leaks, giving users more security and overall trust.
Previously, OnePlus brought a set of information security features. Now, the protection mechanism is further improved and access to data storage is simplified, making it easier for users to classify personal files. The data stored in the private safe is isolated from other applications while remaining personally accessible. Users can keep personal files such as photos, videos, audios and documents in the private safe safely through a single access.
Currently, the OxigenOS12 Open Beta is available for OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. It will reach other models (OnePlus 8, OnePlus 9R 5G, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7T Pro, Nord 2 5G, Nord 1, Nord CE 5G) in future updates.
